Pre Kindergarten

Dear Landing Families,

November was a month full of exciting events at Landing. Our students participated in the democratic process by voting for 5th grade candidates in our Student Council Election, while also receiving a special visit from Mayor Panzenbeck. We showed gratitude to others with the help of the Glen Cove High School DECA Club, our students and their families. We also enjoyed our first-ever Turkey Bingo Night sponsored by our amazing PTA.

Our teachers are looking forward to sharing updates about your students’ progress at our upcoming parent-teacher conferences. Our Landing musicians and vocalists are also so ready to dazzle you at our winter concerts, so make sure not to miss out!

Warmly,
Jacklyn Burnett
Principal

Dear Landing Families,

The teachers of Landing Elementary School are eager to see you at our upcoming parent-teacher conferences. This event will be exclusively in-person; there is no virtual option for conferences this year. The conferences will take place on Thursday, November 30th from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday, December 1st from 8:10 a.m. - 2:55 p.m.

In order to make an appointment with your child’s teachers, families must access the program, Meet the Teacher, on our district website under "Families" or click hereYou will be able to book appointments starting on Sunday, November 12th at 8:00 a.m. We suggest you make a profile and book appointments ASAP in order to ensure you find an appointment that works for your schedule. If you created an account in the past, you can log in using the same account information. To create an account, simply enter your child’s name and exact date of birth. There will also be a tutorial available on the technology page of our district website to help you navigate Meet the Teacher.

Each meeting is scheduled for fifteen minutes. In order to meet with as many families as possible, it is necessary to abide by this fifteen minute time frame; the times for your scheduled appointment will be strictly followed.

Report cards are being distributed, as in the past, to inform the conversations that will take place during Parent Teacher Conferences. Report card grades represent the best estimate, by an educator, of a student's progress at that particular time. For this reason, the scores and comments should not be seen as a full and final summary of a student's achievement. Instead, the report cards represent the learning that is happening over the course of the year. At this point, we are early in the year and are continuing to better understand each child's progress. Please continue to remain in contact with your child's teacher throughout the year, and continue to engage your child in conversations about what they are learning each day. We look forward to a year of learning and getting to know your child.

Please reach out to the main office with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jacklyn Burnett
